First up I just want to say how good it is of Forge World to release this info for free to download. It really shows their customers that they care about more than a fast buck!
So what have the Minotaurs got then? Well first of all they dont take morale checks when taking casualties from shooting. They can also re roll pinning tests.
They get crusader and add a 1 to charge range when in the enemies deployment zone.
Now all these are useful but very situational. If I am honest I am dissappionted we didn't get the pure awesome that the Carcharodons, Mantis Warriors or Fire Hawks got. But I wont complain any more! So what does this mean then?
Well in the spirit of the Minotaurs the tactics encourage moving forward and charging. We are not phased by losses which also encourages taking more bodies, also very fluff-tastic! So that is all good! Next up characters...
Both Asterion Moloc and Ivanus Enkomi have only slight tweaks to bring them in line with current Space Marines. Moloc retains his statline and points cost, however he now uses the space marine orbital bombardment, meaning he can move and fire with it. The only other tweak is the "Sanctioned Fratricide" which gives all units with Minotaurs chapter tactics preferred enemy Space Marines. This no longer includes Grey Knights. However it also means that all Space Marines are counted as Desperate Allies, limiting what we can ally with a great deal.
Ivanus Enkomi has dropped by 10 points, but with the option to take his Crozius Arkanos for +10 pts, replacing a normal Crozius and auxillery grenade launcher. This gives him a bit more flexibility to be take in smaller games, and the unique Crozius is basically a master crafted concussive power sword, as opposed to the usual +2 strength ap4 chaplain weapon. Bane of Hatred also now only effects units with Minotaur Chapter Tactics. Other than that he retains his usual rules.
All in all I am happy that the Minotaurs have their own rules, and that this update was released completely free! However I am going to be a bit selfish and admit I am disappointed they didn't get anything more flashy. With the changes to Moloc if anything he got a slight nerf, limiting who he can ally with. But only time will tell, I will let you know how the first battle goes using the new tactics!
